Healing Patriots

Healing Patriots is designed and dedicated to helping injured Veterans and First Responders find opportunities to go fishing with a variety of experienced fishermen across the Midwest of the United States and Canada. The goal is to help restore confidence in our Veterans and First Responders so they can get out on their own to further develop these therapeutic opportunities and develop opportunities to still serve in their community.

A multiple day Fishing Expedition or Ice Fishing Expedition with Healing Patriots will help Veterans and First Responders kick start a path to a positive and healthy lifestyle, but with the support of fellow comrades dedicated to working with them. The ultimate goal will be to help educate them not only in the sport of fishing, but to provide assistance with resources that are available to help them and their families as they transition from military and public service to civilian life.

Additionally, we strive to help our heroes overcome the challenges related to physical or mental health concerns and utilize educational benefits for career opportunities.

Cast and Hook Fishing

The goal of Cast & Hook Fishing is to provide a better quality of life for 1st Responders and Veterans that are struggling with PTSD. We do so by providing them with healthy options to cope with mental health and job-related stressors. The objective of this project is to decrease the negative effects of PTSD within our participants by providing them with healthy options to decompress and manage stress rather than turning to unhealthy strategies and addictive substances which are detrimental to their health and wellness. We will accomplish this by providing our participants with free beach, wilderness, adventure and recreational therapy.

We have volunteer boat captains experienced in fishing the PVA Bass Tournament Series. Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) offers a trapshoot tournament series consisting of several trap shoot events each year. Trapshooting is a popular and challenging sport that can be an exciting activity for competitive and recreational shooters. The sport involves shooting at clay targets that are launched in the air from a machine, known as a “trap house,” at different angles and speeds. PVA’s trapshoot competitions consist of 300 targets, including 100 Singles and Handicap/Yardage and 50 pairs of Doubles. This sport requires a combination of skill, precision, and focus, making it an exciting and fun way to spend time outdoors.
