Wounded Waters

Getting Veterans out on the water, away from their struggles.

The mission of Wounded Waters is to give wounded warriors including Combat Veterans, Active Duty Military and First Responders outdoor adventures like fishing trips so they can take a break from worrying about all the stressors of daily life. Many Military Service men/women, Firemen and Police deal with high stress in their daily jobs and may even have Post Traumatic Stress issues, but they generally don’t like to talk about it. Too many of our Veterans and Service Personnel are feeling anxious, depressed, stressed and alone. Some are even at a high risk of suicide, a tragedy which we strive to prevent. Wounded Waters is trying to break down the barriers around these Service men and women, we want to let them know they are not alone and offer a helping hand out of the darkness they may be struggling with.

Mississippi’s Wounded Warriors are all around us. You might not always see a Veteran’s injuries since not all of them are visible. Post 9/11, we have hundreds upon hundreds that came back with physical and/or mental scars. They made the sacrifice, served our country, then came home to spouses, children, and family as a changed person. These Heroes are now fighting a war within themselves to reconnect with society. This battle they are fighting within themselves can be as difficult as the battlefield itself.

Wounded Warriors of Mississippi is a Non-Profit 501C Organization, and our mission is to help them win this battle. We help them mentally by organizing events where they can meet fellow warriors that share their daily struggles. We help them physically by assisting with daily tasks that have become too difficult to complete. We help them financially when they are struggling to pay a utility bill, get medications, or other daily needs. And we help them spiritually by praying and recognizing that without God this organization would not be what it is today and what it will grow to be.

Warrior Bonfire Program

The Warrior Bonfire Program is an organization created for service members who have been wounded in combat operations. The purpose of our programs are to encourage camaraderie between those that can fully understand the mindset of a combat wounded soldier and /or their spouse, foster healing through those relationships, inspire growth towards new passions and purpose post military service, or simply know they are not alone. Our programs center around hosting retreats that include therapeutic small group communications and activities such as hunting, fishing, skiing and more, with each event concluding with a bonfire. Our events are designed to set the examples of getting out with others to combat isolation and rejecting the use and need of self medication. Picture The Warrior Bonfire Program operates in Clinton, Mississippi, as a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt non profit charity. It is overseen by a board of directors of 7 members with experience in military operations, private sector businesses, non profit organizations, government processes, and entrepreneurial start ups. Currently, all funds raised go directly to the programs that support the combat wounded veterans we serve. The Warrior Bonfire Program has been in operation since January of 2013.
