WarHawgs

The Founders, Toby Cochran (USN Vet, DAV), David Cochran (USN Vet) and Board Members, James Cochran (USN Retired), Kenny Long (USN, Army Retired, Dothan Police Retired) and John Hodgson (Army Vet), started WarHawgs to provide an all-inclusive Adaptive Sports experience for Veterans, Active Duty and First Responders.

WarHawgs helps Disabled Veterans, Veterans, Active Duty Military and First Responders; through Outdoor Programming and Adaptive Sports, that promotes self-esteem, conflict resolution and enhances their quality of life. We serve veterans recovering from and learning to adjust to life with spinal cord injuries (SCI), traumatic brain injuries (TBI), loss of sight, and post-traumatic stress (PTS). We have specialized equipment to accommodate some of the most injured military heroes thus helping our honored veterans find their “new normal”. Our non-profit organizational mission focus is to enable the veterans and active duty military personnel (both wounded and well) who have passion for hunting, shooting, and the outdoors, the ability to do so! We provide outdoor activities with military members and their families, with a focus on reintegration after many years of deployments.

WarHawgs Adaptive Hunting Sports Program is unique in that we have no limitations as to who we can bring, if a military hero desires to get back in the woods, we can do it! We have specialized adaptive equipment for veterans with spinal cord injuries of all levels and vision-impaired to include loss of sight. We hunt deer, wild boar, turkey and a host of other wild game. We have worked with our community partners and other agencies to build a solid program that keeps growing.

Warfighter Outfitters

We offer hunting and fishing trips along with opportunities for team building and comradery through service projects.

Our fishing trips offer everything from exciting, fast paced jet excursions up the rivers for steelhead to calm lake trips for Kokanee to Drift boat floats through wild and scenic rivers for Fish on the fly rod.

Our Hunt trips are the top tier and most coveted of our events featuring fully guided and supported Big game, Bird, Varmint and Predator animal seasons in the Pacific Northwest.

War Heroes on Water

The WHOW Tournaments enable veterans to connect with fellow veteran heroes to establish invaluable, potentially lifelong bonds. These powerful connections help create lifelines that enable them to continue healing from the wounds of combat.

Walleyes for Warriors

Walleyes for Warriors was founded by Nels Larsen, an avid Saginaw Bay walleye fisherman and Vietnam veteran (1968-1970). The idea for Walleyes for Warriors came from a similar veteran’s fishing event Nels attended in Manistee, Michigan called Tight Lines for Troops. It was such an emotional day, a “Welcome Home” experience many vets didn’t get to experience when they returned home from war. Nels wanted to be able to have other vets experience the same thing. That’s where the idea for Walleyes for Warriors began. Nels has since transitioned the event to Bay City Elks Lodge #88. We are honored to present this event for our area veterans. Saginaw Bay is an exceptional walleye fishery and we want to be able to share this experience with our veterans.

Veterans Sportsmen Alliance

The primary mission of VSA is to get injured and disabled Veterans out of the house and hospital, and into the therapeutic surroundings of nature and outdoor adventure.

VSA has enabled our heroes that have suffered double and triple amputations to experience outdoor adventures they most likely would not be capable of doing on their own.

VSA has sponsored deer and hog hunts, as well as tuna, bass, and salmon fishing trips.

VSA is currently organizing kayaking, hiking, and golf trips as well. Even more exciting, the VSA & Hot Rod Service Company have been working on a Mustang Project and will soon be scheduling “Track Day Events,” and putting our Veterans behind the wheel at race tracks across America.

Veterans In the Outdoors

Veterans In The Outdoors (VITO) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that allows individual veterans, drawn at random, an opportunity to experience hunting and fishing. The lucky individual will participate in hunting or fishing (depending on season) when it works within their schedule.

Veterans In The Outdoors thrives to spread the enjoyment of the outdoors to past and present service members of the armed forces through hunting/fishing programs and events.

Veterans Flyfishing

Veterans Flyfishing was founded by veterans for veterans. We serve as teachers and guides to any veteran or active duty military who wants to learn the art of fly fishing. Maybe you served 50 years ago, or maybe you’re serving right now, whoever you are and wherever you served – we thank you for your service. And, we want to take you fly fishing.

Veterans Flyfishing is a non-profit chartered under Fly Fishers International.

We:

  • Serve vets who want to fly fish;
  • Teach vets who want to advance in fly fishing;
  • Help vets achieve whatever skill level they choose in fly fishing;
  • Offer an emotional outlet for vets who need it;
  • Reach out to other veteran and fly fishing organizations;
  • Cut the drama and go fishing.
