Casting Vets

Vision

To help all veterans to recover one cast at a time.

Mission

To improve the quality of life for all VETERANS.

Value Statement

Here at Casting Vets, we see the value in everyone. We want to be a catalyst for positive change, and since our beginnings in 2017, we’ve been driven by the same ideas we initially founded our Non-Profit Organization upon: support, empowerment, and progress.

Cast it Forward

Cast It Forward is a Non Profit organization passionate about sharing the love, joy, and benefits of fishing.
Currently, we offer Lake Erie Walleye fishing excursions to kids, veterans and seniors who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so.

To Participate

Currently, we offer Lake Erie walleye excursions in our 23’ Hewescraft Pro V fishing boat. If you are interested in fishing with us and fit our participant demographic, please contact us through this site. We will happily and promptly send you an application. Thank you for your interest!

Camp Valor Outdoors

Camp Valor Outdoors is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to our military veterans.

We recognize and honor ill, injured, and wounded disabled veterans and their families through adaptive and competitive activities such as guided fishing, hunting, shooting, archery, 4-wheeling, or just simply relaxing around the campfire.

All branches of the military services, from any generation, are welcome (to include active duty case by case)
We understand the hurdles that veterans and their families face after military service, particularly with injuries and illnesses.

Warriors are never alone on the battlefield and shouldn’t be alone when they come back home. Healing in the great outdoors with Camp Valor Outdoors and reconnecting with fellow warriors is therapeutic and essential to healing.

Camp Hope

Allow wounded warriors the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities with dignity – to not think about what they “can’t” do, only to think what they want to do. Soldiers can shoot skeet, hunt turkey and deer, fish, hike, explore the country, or relax around the ever-burning firepit. More than 42,000 Soldiers have been wounded in the War on Terror. Camp Hope is committed to letting them heal through nature. Since 2007, dozens of Soldiers – male and female, representing all branches of the military, from across the country, have experienced, enjoyed, and sought solace at Camp Hope.

Camp Freedom

Camp Freedom is an adventure camp for disabled Veterans & First Responders, their family members, and Gold Star families providing quality hunting, shooting sports, fishing, camping, hiking, biking, and other year round outdoor activities. These activities remove individuals from clinical settings into the healing environment of the outdoors and nature. They also promote the social well-being of the participants through peer to peer interaction, camaraderie, and outdoor adventures. Activities are led by Camp Freedom’s Staff and experienced volunteers. Camp Freedom provides services to other nonprofits who have a similar mission for a collective impact.

Camp Falcon Retreat

Camp Falcon’s mission is to offer outdoor adventures to all veterans. We offer hunting, fishing and outdoor events to help veterans escape day to day stress. Our goal is for veterans to build relationships with one another and help them develop emotional and spiritual healing by spending time with one another.

California Waterfowl Association Veteran Hunt Program

The program promotes wellness through outdoor healing and the camaraderie of fellow veterans. Participants have enjoyed hunter education courses, fun shoots, fishing trips and hunts for waterfowl, dove and turkey from the Klamath Basin to the southern San Joaquin Valley.

CWA coordinates all hunt details and supplies food and lodging, shotgun shells, guns, jackets, gear bags, duck calls, shirts, hats and more to all participants. Hunts are free and are limited to veterans.

All of these hunts are open to any veteran currently serving or who has served in the military, naval or air service and was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable. A committee reviews applicants and selects veterans best suited to enjoy the hunt.

In addition to these opportunities, the Hunt Program has blinds reserved on most lottery hunt days for people who are veterans and/or mobility impaired—click here for more information.

C.A.S.T Take a Warrior Fishing

The Take a Warrior Fishing program was established in 2011 and events are designed to support military personnel and their families, specifically targeting persons assigned to Warrior Transition Commands, by creating an adaptive, community-based outdoor recreation experience through the sport of fishing.

Numerous studies have shown that traumatic events not only affect the psychological structures of the self, but also the attachment and meaning that link individuals and community. This program seeks to restore those disconnects.

Each event will have the capacity to accommodate up to 150 families and brings in numerous community partners.

Goals:

  • Support positive social interactions with the civilian world.
  • Restore disconnect in the home by increasing family interaction.
  • Encourage outdoor recreation as a therapeutic outlet.
  • Empower Veterans to advocate for positive self growth and change
