Take a Soldier Fishing

We assist communities at large to show their support for veterans and active duty military by sponsoring our Take A Soldier/Veteran Fishing events. These events honor our active duty military and veterans for their service to our nation and illustrate that our communities appreciate their sacrifice. Volunteers that support our fishing programs help make profound differences in active service members or veterans lives by providing a safe and positive outdoor experience.

We strive to serve all veterans and active duty military of all abilities and life situations. Our intention is to leave every veteran and active service member who participates in our events with a memorable experience that gives them pride in wearing their uniform, provides hope for their future, and a general positive outlook.

Tails-A-Waggin’ Acres Hunting Preserve Annual Free Pheasant Hunt

The Veterans Hunt is a registered 501c3 Non Profit organization dedicated to providing critical social and recreational experiences to the people who have selflessly served our nation and communities.  The pheasant hunt is free to all who have and actively serve in the armed forces, law enforcement, fire defense and first response.  We take pride in providing an experience that helps them not only feel appreciated, but also gives them a chance to connect with others who have gone through and continue to go through the life events they hold in common.
During the 4 day event, we average over 350 hunters, supply 1700 pheasants, and serve over 1000 meals.

Special Ops Excursions

Special Ops Xcursions was formed by a small group of friends in 2012 at their hunting club in Tennessee. They were looking for a way to share their love of the outdoors with others, and through mutual friends within the Army (Green Berets) the first group of soldiers arrived September 2013 for their annual club dove hunt. The overwhelming success of that first excursion quickly rippled into numerous events providing all types of outdoor activities. Hunting for ducks, geese, turkey, dove, & small game. Skeet & sporting clays shoots. Fishing for crappie, bluegill, catfish, bass, and on the fly. Zip lining in the Smokies. Horseback riding. Camping & hiking. Instructional classes starting for handguns up to long range tactical shooting.

We offer active duty Special Operations Forces (SOF) service members a chance to partner with professional guides & volunteers in the general public for endless opportunities in the outdoors. Through small group excursions, friendships are established that will last for years to come. A daily limit or full tag are just a bonus to the experience. A weekend away pre or post deployment is crucial to team and family well being. The outdoors can be a powerful healer.

Special Operations Wounded Warriors

SOWW (Special Operations Wounded Warriors), a 501(c)(3) Charity, was formed in August of 2012 for the distinct purpose of providing outdoor experiences and focused therapeutic retreats to a select group of both active duty and veteran U.S. Military Special Operations Forces, that have received wounds (both seen and unseen) in battle or significant training accidents, most of which that have been awarded our Country’s prestigious Purple Heart Medal.

SOWW was founded by five individuals comprised of U.S. Military Special Forces Veterans, local businessmen, and avid outdoors-man. It was started for the intent of offering thanks and fellowship to the men and women of our Special Operation Forces who have sacrificed so greatly for our own personal freedoms and safety.

It is the belief of SOWW that we truly can make a difference in the life of a service member who has chosen to put their safety at risk while defending our freedoms and that has suffered personal injury in that endeavor.

SOWW feels that there is not a more deserving group of individuals than our Special Operation Forces members that frequently stand in harm’s way for the protection of our freedoms, often with little or no recognition.

These men and women pay not only a physical and mental price during their service to our Country; some have paid the ultimate price, for their fellow man. For those that return home, often with the never fading scars of their conquests, SOWW exists to demonstrate our Country’s appreciation for their efforts and contributions. It is our objective to help bridge the gap from military service to the enjoyment of the freedoms that they fought so courageously to defend.
