In 2002, Bud West started the Western Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors. The original focus was helping paralyzed veterans through fishing until the group obtained the land lease in 2005. In 2007, the group became incorporated. Sadly, in 2010 Bud passed away. Today, we are a dedicated group of men and women who love the outdoors and believe that hunting and fishing should be accessible for everyone, regardless of disability. Hunting with a Hero

Hunting With A Hero knows that help and healing for service members with PTSD and their families doesn’t just stop in clinical therapy. Our goal is to open non-hospital care centers for service members and their families, free of charge, outside every US military installation, where the whole family can learn to better understand how PTSD affects them, and learn ways to cope together.

Project Healing Waters

Mission Statement Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities including education and outings. Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in the State of Maryland. PHWFF receives no government funding and is dependent on tax-deductible, charitable donations and the help of numerous volunteers to meet the educational, equipment, transportation, and related needs of its participants.
